During my senior year of high school, I was beginning to make a name for myself when it came to baseball. I was beginning to dominate the competition in San Diego and began receiving multiple offers from some highly competitive college programs and was starting to make some noise for the MLB draft. Then in March 2020, COVID-19 shut everything down. Within in a week, I received fifteen phone calls from all the schools that have offered me a scholarship and said “you’re a great athlete, but because of COVID we are allowing our seniors another year of eligibility, so you are no longer a use to us”. Also, my recruiting coordinators that helped me get in contact with those schools all of a sudden bailed on me like I was some kind of stranger. Just like that my offers were gone and I was forgotten.
It is important to forgive but never forget. Our life is filled with trails and tribulations, it is our choice to confront them and accept them head on or run away. I remain UNSHOOK, by choosing my passion and what I love to do. At the end of the day we are the ones making decisions for ourselves. The world is ours for the taking, all we have to do is accept that challenge.
